Kyrgyzstan hosted the Legal Olympiad for 2,700 schoolchildren from all regions of the country

Today, on December 21, Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic (MoES) hosted a Legal Olympiad Awarding Ceremony.

On December 2 - 11, 2021 the Legal Olympiad was held online among pupils of 9-11 grades. More than 2,700 students from all regions of Kyrgyzstan took part in the Olympiad to test their knowledge in law. The main objectives of the Olympics were to raise the level of legal culture and motivate young people in the field of law.

"To use and know your rights from school is exactly what motivates this Olympiad, and the fact that it was held entirely online also makes it possible to reach a large number of students. I am very happy that the current students are showing outstanding results in Olympiads and competitions." - said Marat Usenaliev, Head of School, Extra-Curricular and Additional Education Department of MoES of Kyrgyz Republic.

Taking into account the epidemiological situation, all stages of the Olympiad were held online through the unified platform www.ukuk.alc.kg. The Olympiad was held in 3 stages:

- 1st stage: test of 15 questions;

- 2nd stage: 10 legal problems;

- 3rd stage: solving of legal problems in front of a panel of judges.

According to the results of the Olympiad 30 participants were awarded certificates and prizes:

- 1st to 5th places - e-book readers;

- From places 5 to 10 - smart watches;

- From places 10 to 30 - backpacks.

The winners of the Olympiad were:

1. Dzholdosheva Aizhana - 9 grade student of Humanitarian Law school-gymnasium # 4, Bishkek;

2. Tomiris Torobaeva, grade 11 student of secondary general education school №4 named after A. M. Mursabaeva, city of Kant, Chui oblast;

3. Aizhamal Medetbekova, grade 9 student of T. Tursunbaeva secondary school. T. Tursunbaeva, Chaek village, Naryn oblast;

4. Temirkulova Sezim - 10th grade student of Sosnovka secondary school, Sosnovka village, Chui oblast;

5. Urustombekova Nurperi - grade 11 pupil of T. Tursunbaeva secondary school. T. Tursunbaeva, Chaek village, Naryn oblast.

About the platform ukuk.alc.kg

During the event, organizers presented the platform through which the online Olympiad was held, and noted that the Legal Olympiad could be an excellent tool for monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of teaching and learning achievements of students in the subject "Human and Society". The platform was created in the framework of the Ukuktuk Aimak project specifically for schoolchildren and teachers, and serves as a source of accessible legal information. The platform publishes lesson plans on legal topics for teachers of the subject "Human and Society", and there is a separate section with useful articles for schoolchildren.

The Olympiad was organized by the Association of Legal Clinics of Kyrgyzstan in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic in the framework of the "Ukuktuk Aimak" project under the UN Development Programme project "Integration of an Inclusive, People-centred and Human Rights-based Approach into National Legal, Justice and Post-Constitutional Processes".
