Today participants of the Peacebuilding Medial Laboratory held their presentation event in Osh with the participation of the Chairman of the Youth Affairs Committee under the Osh City Administration Mr. Berkhmamatov I., representatives of the UN Development Programme and NGO "Yuoth of Osh".

During the last month, 25 participants of the Peacebuilding Medial Laboratory from among the creative youth of Osh city were trained in the basics and skills of creating and promoting digital content, as well as underwent practical trainings on leadership, communication and teamwork.

The main goal of the initiative was to develop creative digital skills in the field of peacebuilding and solving problems of local communities, as well as to strengthen interaction and cooperation between youth leaders, bloggers, IT specialists, artists, musicians and other specialists in the field of creating media products to promote peacebuilding ideas.

The Media lab participants were divided into 5 teams. Each team worked for two weeks on the creation of their media products under the mentorship of an involved expert trainer Adinai Kasymbekova. All media products were developed considering the preferences of young people and were focused on ideas for promoting peace, interethnic friendship, tolerance, social responsibility, and eco-activism. The participants' work was presented in the form of short instructive and motivating social videos and comics in the Tik-Tok style.

“The media laboratory provided an opportunity for young novice bloggers and just young activists who are not indifferent to social problems to acquire basic skills in creating multimedia content. Today, during the final event, the participating teams successfully presented their finished media products, where they creatively presented their vision of how they see solutions to social problems in their communities associated with the ideas of peacemaking and tolerance "- said Akmaral Satinbaeva, the director of NGO “Youth of Osh”.

The Peacebuilding Media Laboratory was initiated by the United Nations Development Program in cooperation with the NGO "Youth of Osh" within the framework of the UN Peacebuilding Fund project "Promoting Kyrgyzstan's Youth Cohesion and Interaction towards Uzbekistan", implemented by the UN agencies in Kyrgyzstan (UNICEF, UNDP and UNFPA) and aimed at improving social cohesion in border areas; and support from the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic to implement plans for cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
