As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread, millions have been affected by the school closures that have brought new resources for young people, parents and teachers around the world.

One of these resources is called Mission 1.5, a web-based game for kids and parents to learn about all the different things that can be done to stop climate change – that go way beyond just putting solar panels on your roof and buying an electric car!

The game was designed by the UN Development Programme (UNDP), top climate scientists, youth activists and game developer Playmob. Kids take on the role of government leaders and make decisions on different areas of life such as how to produce electricity, transport people and goods and change the way we buy and sell things. The aim is to keep global temperature increase to 1.5 degrees – a level that scientists recommend is safe.

The campaign is built around a mobile game that educates people about climate policy and provides a platform for them to vote on the solutions they want to see happen. The votes will then be compiled and delivered to government leaders. We usually ask ourselves; how can I help to stop climate change? UNDP responds with confidence - by playing Mission 1.5! The information also could help governments gain the confidence to take the bold action to tackle the climate crisis.

Unique role for UNDP, as the largest supporter of action under the Paris Climate Agreement, is uniquely placed to connect the public with governments at this critical time.

The Mission 1.5 game is available in 6 languages including Russian and live on www.mission1point5.org. UNDP Kyrgyzstan is glad to announce that Kyrgyz version will be available soon. This is a web version of the game, so you don’t have to download it to your smartphone.

It's time to visit the address www.mission1point5.org  and take part in a global game in which more than 1.2 million people are already playing. Play, share and take care of the Earth.
