Representatives of the Ministry of Economy and private sector looked at the export development experience of TurkeyNov 30, 2015
Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan (November 11, 2015) – On 10-11 November 2015 in Bishkek, “Foreign commerce One stop shop Center” State Enterprise under the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Turkey held training seminar “Experience of Turkey in export development and government programs to support exports” with the support of the UNDP project “Aid for Trade”.
The event was attended by representatives of business associations, potential and existing exporters, as well as government officials.
“Today, Kyrgyzstan is on the path of trade policy reforms and makes important steps in regional integration. As a result, changing conditions of foreign trade reveal opportunities and challenges for public and private sector. Given these challenges, Turkish experience in export development would be very useful”, - said Aliona Niculita, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Specialists of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Turkey presented programs of state support for export development, Turkish export development organizations and their functions, practical examples and success stories of export development, provisions related to the development of export strategies and their implementation, customs regime of processing of goods inside and outside the customs territory.
Roundtable participants visited Turkish companies such as MGN Extra (textile) and Dogta§ (construction) in Bishkek, as successful companies that implemented state support programs for development of Turkey's exports.
It was also noted at the roundtable that in order to expand export opportunities and increase competitiveness of domestic producers on foreign markets, the Ministry in cooperation with business and donors developed the Government plan of the Kyrgyz Republic for the development of exports in 2015-2017, and as a part of the roundtable, “Foreign commerce One stop shop Center” organizes activity of the first dimension of the Plan “Access to trade information and export promotion”, for which reason representatives of business, dealing with exports were invited to the event.
In conclusion, participants noted the importance of such events in the light of the development of small and medium-sized businesses, and the relevance of Kyrgyzstan’s export development and promotion to foreign markets.
This experience of the Republic of Turkey will help domestic entrepreneurs to find new approaches in production, preparation and delivery of their products to foreign markets.
Phase 3 (2014 - 2017) of the regional project “Aid for trade in Central Asia” in the Kyrgyz Republic is aimed at support and development of the enabling environment for trade, capacity building of national partners in the field of trade promotion. The project, being part of the regional program, will contribute to the development of trade between Kyrgyzstan and neighbor countries in the Ferghana Valley, as well as cooperation in trade policy research and stimulation of connections between institutions working on trade facilitation in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
