Baizak, Naryn region (August 31, 2015) - Baizak village (Naryn region) hosted the finals of the rayon championship of mini-football dedicated to the opening of the new football field. The championship was attended by 16 teams from 13 AOs from Jumgal rayon. Youth from Baizak village always go in for sports. The village has its own gym and two makeshift playgrounds near the school and village club. In winter, the young people make skating rink by their own and play hockey. However, football has always been a favorite game among Baizak young people and they dreamed about their own professional football field.
The residents of Baizak village repeatedly appealed to Baizak AO with a request to find the funds for construction of a football field. In May 2014, villager Taalai Kuchmuratov wrote a grant proposal to the UNDP project “Youth for peaceful change” with a proposal to build a football field. Total in 2015 4 grant projects were supported aimed at supporting youth initiatives within the framework of the UNDP Project “Youth for peaceful change” in Baizak village: photo / photocopying services, kurut production, construction of a football field, and confectionery “Cakes by Zarema”.
Writing and submission of grant projects became possible thanks to the effective interaction of Baizak AO and local people. Submission of grant applications was preceded by a series of consultations between local government, UNDP and local young people to discuss and conduct needs assessment and arrange planning for youth, as well as a number of training sessions on project designing, conflict-sensitivity and business planning. Construction of the new football field will facilitate communication and interaction among young people and will create new opportunities for leisure activities and become a visual promotion of healthy lifestyles.
The football field was built with grant support of the UNDP project “Youth for peaceful change”. The total amount of the project made up more than 360 thousand soms. Baizak Ail okmotu allocated private funds for purchase of artificial turf for football field.
