Meeting with the Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic

Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan – a meeting of the UN Resident Coordinator A. Avanessov with the Kyrgyz Prime Minister T.Sariev took place on 18 September 2015 at the Government House of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Pradeep Sharma, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in the Kyrgyz Republic and concerned officials of the Government’s Office attended the meeting.

Priority directions of cooperation between the UN system and UNDP in the field of sustainable development, achieving the Millennium Development Goals and transition to implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals after 2015 which will be reviewed at the 70th jubilee session of the UN in September this year have been discussed.

The parties have exchanged views on the issues related to preparation to the upcoming elections of Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, on promoting “green” economy in Kyrgyzstan including agrarian sector, development of education and health sectors as well as on projects ensuring effective participation of Kyrgyzstan in EAEC.

An agreement on conducting the next meeting of the Development Partners Coordination Council under the Kyrgyz Government has been reached during the meeting, whereas the Prime Minister T. Sariev and the UN Resident Coordinator A. Avanessov are Council Co-chairs.

The meeting was held in the spirit of traditionally high level of partnership and it was mentioned that the regular consultations give good opportunity for further strengthening of fruitful cooperation in the interest of the sustainable development of the Kyrgyz Republic.

In conclusion, Kyrgyz Prime Minister T. Sariev expressed thanks to Mr. Pradeep Sharma for successful tenure in the Kyrgyz Republic as UNDP Deputy Resident Representative and expressed warm wishes on completion of his tenure and departure from the country in the beginning of October 2015.
