International Investment Forum in NarynAug 25, 2015
Naryn, Kyrgyzstan – On 25 August 2015 in the village of Kochkor, Naryn province, was held the Third International Investment Forum entitled “Naryn - transnational economic hub on the Great Silk Road”. The event was organized with the support of the UNDP and several international organizations.
The forum was attended by representatives of the Kyrgyz Government, local authorities, business communities of China, Belarus and Russia, international organizations and non-government organizations, as well as local businessmen.
In his speech, the plenipotentiary representative of the Kyrgyz Republic Government in the Naryn region, Amanbai Kaiypov underlined the necessity for further development of transit and logistics corridor, passing along the Great Silk Road in the context of the integration of Kyrgyzstan in the Eurasian Economic Community.
Within the framework of the business programme of regional investment activities, the participants in the form of an open discussion raised the most important issues of economic development of Naryn province. As a result of the forum, a number of documents were signed on cooperation in further strengthening trade and economic relations with foreign partners. Leaders of the Free Economic Zones such as "Naryn" (Kyrgyzstan), "Vitebsk" (Belarus) and "Kashgar" (China) expressed their intention to cooperate in the implementation of joint projects, attraction of investments and introduction of innovative technologies. A local company "Shalbar" specializing in the manufacture of wearing-apparel products reached an agreement with Chinese partners for the supply of assembly lines, machines and equipment in the amount of 200 thousand US dollars.
During the event, the participants were shown a video on the investment potential of the region and were presented with information materials on the export opportunities of Naryn Free Economic Zone, which were developed under the UNDP Aid for Trade Project funded by the Government of Finland.Contact information
