Factsheet on national information campaign, “Follow your voice!”

The National Information campaign “Follow your voice!” launched on 10th of September 2015 in Kyrgyzstan is targeted to attract attention to the issues of active participation in election process and understanding the importance of women participation in politics. The campaign is conducted through network of non-governmental organizations in Kyrgyzstan with the support of UNDP and UNICEF joint project “Women as peaceful voters and women as candidates”. The UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia is a key strategic partner of the project. The project has been supported within the framework of “Promoting gender initiatives – II” of the UN Peacebuilding Fund.

In the framework of information campaign number of distribution materials were prepared:

  • animations,

  • interactive quest for voters,

  • brochures “Questions and answers for volunteers and activists”,

  • comics,

  • interactive games for children and their parents,

  • creation of two video-series in cooperation with Central Election Committee (CEC) with aim to address active and conscious participation of voters in upcoming election.

The civil society organizations will take part in creation of few thematic TV and radio programs on the national level; arrange monitoring process of political parties program from the point of view of women’s interests (“gender rating”).

Used instruments are focused to increase involvement of youth women in political discussions and decision making process, as well as strengthening the position of youth in rural communities of Kyrgyzstan:

  • training on election process,

  • increase debating skills,

  • trainings on civil journalism and social media

  • variety of events in pilot settlements in which the Peacebuilding Fund projects are being implemented in Kyrgyzstan.

Geographical coverage of information campaign: Chui region (Maevskiy, Vasilevskiy AO, Tokmok t.); Issyk-Kul region (Karakol t.); Osh region ( Osh and Uzgen) Zhalal-Abad region (Yrys, Boltagulov, Kosh-Dobo AO); Batken region (Halmion, Aksai, Kulundu, Jany-Jer, Samarkandek AO).

The project has been implemented in close partnership with CEC KR and a number of non-governmental organizations involved in the national information campaign “Follow your voice!”
