Responsible business for sustainable developmentSep 11, 2015
Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan (September 10, 2015) – On September 10 Agency for Corporate Development" CSR Central Asia jointly with the UNDP Sustainable development Dimension held a "Business and Sustainable Development" Conference in the Hyatt Regency. The Conference was aimed at discussion of topical issues related to encouraging responsible business practices in the context of new challenges, establishing a platform for development of an effective dialogue on corporate social responsibility of the government, businesses, and the society, as well as approaches of raising the role and effectiveness of social investments in Kyrgyzstan.
The agenda of the conference included international and national experience in development of social partnership mechanisms, case studies on best practices related to private sector engagement with communities in the framework of joint initiatives.
“It is worth noting that business has played important role in achieving the Millennium Development Goals. Now the world is entering new era of development with 17 Sustainable Development Goals that were recently approved and it is certain that without active involvement and engagement of the business the goals would not be fully achieved. Importantly, CSR is increasingly appearing on the agenda of many Governments. In Kyrgyzstan, the National Sustainable Development Strategy until 2017 stresses important role of the private sector in implementation of the activities to advance sustainable development”, - noted in welcoming speech Mr. Pradeep Sharma, UNDP Deputy Resident representative in Kyrgyzstan.
The representatives of state agencies, non-governmental and international organizations and the private sector participated at the event. The best international experts in the field of corporate social responsibility from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Turkey, Switzerland and other countries shared their experience.Contact information
