The United Nations Development Programme signed the Exchange of Note today with the Government of Japan committed to finance US$ 6,145,853 for the regional project entitled “Strengthening Community Resilience and Regional Cooperation for Prevention of Violent Extremism in Central Asia” to be implemented by UNDP.

On February 13, 2018 Child’s Rights Defenders League (the League), with the support of UNDP in the Kyrgyz Republic and the British Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, held a roundtable where representatives of authorized state bodies, international organizations and public organizations discussed further actions and activities to prevent child marriages and the protection of their rights with a view to eradicating this problem.

30 June 2017, Deputy Speaker of Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Altynai Omurbekova, Ambassador of Switzerland to the Kyrgyz Republic René Holenstein and Acting Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Aliona Niculita signed a memorandum of understanding to support the consolidation of a strong and inclusive parliamentary democracy in the Kyrgyz Republic. The signing ceremony took place in Jogorku Kenesh with participation of members of parliament, management of the apparatus of Jogorku Kenesh as well as representatives from international donor community.

Regional Conference Towards a Common Vision for Agenda 2030 in Central Asia

In November 2016, Almaty hosted a High-level Regional Conference “Common Vision for the 2030 Agenda in Central Asia”, organized by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in conjunction with The Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) as a regional entity working on environmental issues across Central Asia.
