Journalists to get in-depth knowledge in “Green” economySep 11, 2017
Journalists in Osh learned about “green” economy, how to cover it and acquainted with the relevant technologies that are already being used in the Kyrgyz Republic.
“Today in local media the relevance of the green economy remains unknown, because citizens and the business community do not receive appropriate information from this area. In-depth understanding of ‘"green” economy will reveal the opportunities for media in covering these issues,” experts Bakyt Askarbekov and Zhanybek Kulumbetov said during the training 28-29 August 2017.
Sahira Nazarova, journalist for the Osh regional newspaper “Ekho Osh”, said: “It is important that the Media correctly understand the principles of the green economy to have its coverage more clear and attractive. For this, we – ourselves need to understand and master the principles of the “green” economy, to bring them to the people.”
Journalists also took part in the site visits for “green” technology entrepreneurships. They got acquainted with entrepreneurs who were the very first to start promoting and implementing the “green” economy in the country.
The workshop and site visit were organized within the campaign “Green Economy” under the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic with the support of the Program “Promoting Sustainable Economic Development in the Kyrgyz Republic” of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), UNDP-UNEP “Poverty and the Environment” initiative, Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) and in coopeartion with “BizExpert” Analytical Center.
