Kyrgyz Republic: 25 years in the United NationsMar 9, 2017
2 March 2017 UN Resident Coordinator, UNDP Resident Representative in the Kyrgyz Republic Alexander Avanessov had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Erlan Abdyldaev. The meeting was timed to mark 25th anniversary of the accidence of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United Nations.
During the meeting, the message on the remarkable date from the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Almazbek Atambayev was handed to the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
The greeting message of the UN Secretary General to the President of the Kyrgyz Republic had been earlier transferred to the Kyrgyz side through diplomatic channels.
During the meeting, a traditionally open and constructive exchange of views was held on many areas of cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the United Nations, its agencies and organizations accredited in the country. Both sides highly appreciated the achieved level of cooperation, confirmed mutual commitment to the Development Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals for the period up to 2030, including the priorities for the Kyrgyz Republic and the readiness for further enhancing effective and efficient cooperation.
UN Resident Coordinator, UNDP Resident Representative in the Kyrgyz Republic informed about preparation of the next Framework of Assistance to the Kyrgyz Republic from the UN (UNDAF) for 2018-2022 and the country programmes of UN agencies for the next five-year program cycle that consider country's national priorities and country's commitments in the field of sustainable development. Implementation of the UNDAF, programs and projects will continue to be carried out in close cooperation and in a coordinated with the national partners.
During the meeting Alexander Avanessov conveyed a welcoming address on the quarter-century cooperation to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Erlan Abdyldaev (see below).
