#Sulaimantoo2016: world classic music is being played in public transport of Osh

Third Festival "Sulaiman-Too - symbol of peace and harmony - 2016" has been held in Osh.

This year it was dedicated to the history and culture of the Kyrgyz Republic. The main celebration was held on the eve of the day of Osh.

The festival was launched in 2014 and is being continued today. The festival aims to promote the symbolic value of the city of Osh and Sulaiman-Too mountain that are calling for universal values, tolerance, civic identity and respect for inter-ethnic and religious diversity.

The festival organized a series of cultural, entertainment and academic events dedicated to the unique and uniting role of the sacred mountain Sulaiman-Too.

During the celebration, there were implemented interesting projects –classic world and kyrgyz music began playing in public transport, passengers heard reading of famous poems. Photo gallery in light boxes “Osh: yesterday and today” was opened in 34 municipal bus-stops of the city as well as a photo gallery in the light-boxes “Osh’s everyday life” in Victory and Ataturk parks. All this will last until the end of the year.

Ulan Zhalilov, Head of the Union of Artists of the Kyrgyz Republic in Osh, said: “The Festival Sulaiman-Too” was held at good levels. It has changed the vision of people, their relation to each other. There was interest in the art from the all citizens and it certainly pleased us - artists.”

In addition, on the day of a big event on the eve of the day of the city there was held an exhibition-contest of paintings “History and culture of the people living at the foot of Sulaiman-Too” among professional artists, as well as among the students of the Faculty of Art. There was also held on the stage the festival of music and folklore of peoples living in Osh.

Mayor of the city Aytmamat Kadyrbaev, who took part in the Festival on behalf of the Mayor’s Office handed valuable gifts to the winners of the festival in the categories of best song, best dance, folklore, art paintings, etc.

“We were able to host a festival for the citizens at a high level. Multinational Osh heard the key message, which was contributed by the Assembly of the Peoples, youth of the city, community leaders, who appealed to the residents of the city urging to live in peace and unity,” - shared his opinion Kutman Kamchiev, Specialist of social department of Osh Mayor’s Office.

The festival was organized by Osh Mayor's Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Representation in the south of the Kyrgyz Republic, the museum complex “Sulaiman-Too”, Union of Artists in partnership with the UNDP in the Kyrgyz Republic and the Aga Khan Development Network in the Kyrgyz Republic.
