The image of women-candidate for local councils has been fashioned in Batken

In Batken women undertook the course on women's leadership, international and national mechanisms for the protection of women's rights, modeling of the image of female candidate, the electoral system and election legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic, agitation and drafting electoral platform.

In August 2016 there was held a leadership school for women-candidates for the local councils of Bakten oblast. During the study, women were given the knowledge and tools to participate in the upcoming municipal elections in 2016. They were given the legal, mentoring support before and after the elections.

In addition to agenda, the session “Coffee with the leaders” was organized in the format of the meeting with women leaders from the public, business and civil sectors to exchange experiences in their professional activities. The invited guests were the Member of the Jogorku Kenesh - Karamat Orozova, the Staff Member of Plenipotentiary Representative of the Government in Batken oblast - Maripat Tashpolotova, Deputy Akim of Batken oblast - Kydyrova Kishimzhan.

Upon completion of school leadership, participants developed their own individual election platform that would help them in promoting their candidatures in the electoral process.

The school was organized by the NGO “Women Support Center”, using methods of gender schools within the UNDP and UNICEF “Women - peace voters and candidates” project with the financial support of the UN Peacebuilding Fund, and the OSCE Centre in Bishkek.
