Elena Bayalinova, (Expert on effective communications) stated during the working meeting with participation of press secretaries of state institutions and journalists.

“Having a personal work experience in press unit of the Ministry for Health of the KR for the last 15 years, I can say the main task of the staff members of the press unit of any state bodies is about creating positive image or more precisely reputation of your organization in the eyes of the public. It is very important that the public trusts that institution and this can be achieved by creating original and interesting information events,”- stated expert.

During the meeting, participants have openly discussed shortcomings and problems, disputable questions they face in their daily interaction with one another. The workshop has turned into a unique platform for opinions exchange. Among the most important problems, participants have highlighted the following: provision of information to mass media in the state language, creation of a pool of experts to comment on various themes, increasing the status of press secretaries, sensationalism and negative information in mass media and wide range of other issues that were all discussed in the work in groups.

Moreover, Kanykei Orozbaeva, head of the department on sustainable development and environment of the National Statistics Committee gave an overview of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.  Kanykei Orozbaeva spoke about the global document “Transforming our world: Development agenda 2030”, which is aimed at fostering international community’s efforts in eradicating poverty and achieving sustainable development in the next 15 years.

«We try to work with media in close collaboration. It is necessary to jointly inform the public on various developments, so that the news will be of high quality, objective and most importantly trustworthy. We also have to think about empowering of press secretaries, so that they can react to the requests of media agencies more quickly and timely,” - noted Venera Bektasheva from the press unit of Ombudsman’s office of the KR, participant of the workshop.

The main result of the event is a cooperation mechanism to improve collaboration between the press services of the state bodies, mass media and the UNDP.
