Young people united for building bridges between youth and decision-makers, raising the cultural and legal education.
The Republican Youth Forum 2016 finished in Bazar-Korgon rayon in Jalal Abad oblast and became another contribution for peacebuilding and strengthening interethnic tolerance among the younger generation in the region.
It is one of the main annual events for young people where they can discuss various topics related to youth issues, express their own opinion and gain new knowledge.
“Today's Forum has a very positive impact on peace, unity and stability of our country. These enthusiasm and activity of young people, I see today, once again confirms that our younger generation is not indifferent and care for their future and the future of the country,” - said Bakyt Egemberdiev, Deputy director of the State Agency for Youth Affairs, Physical Culture and Sports under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Each year the Forum attracts more people interested in youth leadership in the Kyrgyz Republic among representatives of public associations and others. This year, the event brought together more than 120 participants to discuss thematic issues and prospective of young people in the country. The agenda of the Forum included discussion on such topics as human trafficking, bride kidnapping and the improvement of youth policy in the KR. As a result of joint discussions, resolutions were adopted in these areas that would be suggested for further implementation to the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic to improve youth policy in the country.
It was a good opportunity for young leaders to share their experiences with other participants from the remote areas of the republic. During the Forum it was decided to hold similar thematic meetings on youth issues at the district level.
“This is my first experience in such event, where there are so many young people from different oblasts of our country. Thanks to the Forum, I’ve made a lot of friends whom I can share my ideas and learn new things from. I really hope that all the things we have discussed about shall not remain on paper, but will be implemented with the support of the government,”- said the participant from Batken oblast Narmyrza kyzy Muslima.
The Youth Forum was organized with the support and co-funding by the plenipotentiary Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic in Jalal-Abad oblast, Administration of Bazar-Korgon rayon, UNDP Osh Area-Based Development Programme as a part of its activities within “Youth for peaceful changes” project funded by the UN Peacebuilding Fund, OSCE and the Center for Support of International Protection (CSIP).
